5 THINGS TO TEACH YOUNG BLACK WOMEN BEFORE ADULTHOOD!!!

Raising children comes with endless responsibility. As a parent, we strive to instill a strong  moral foundation into our daughters. Many parents believe raising young women are more difficult , because society places harder judgment on black females as opposed to their male counterparts . Despite what society depicts on social media , most Black parents believe their daughters should conduct themselves in modesty and decency.  I’ve conducted a few key “reinforcers” to teach our impressionable young women.

  • Avoid having children out of wedlock - In the Black community , more than 70 percent of children are born into a single parent household. Statically speaking single parent households have decreased income, lack of quality time, relationship difficulties, and imbalance of masculine and feminine energy in the home. Parents should remind their daughters  of the importance of securing a productive future.
  • Self-love - Teaching Black females to love themselves unconditionally can avoid self-esteem issues in the near future. Far too often, our young women are indoctrinated in the  “ European standard of beauty”. Some Black women turn to skin-lightening, blonde weaves, and plastic surgery an effort to look  “more exotic”. Parents should encourage their daughters to wear their natural hair and embrace our God given melanin. .
  • Respect - Teaching our young females the importance of respect can be a crucial factor in their upbringing . In a world where social media is showcasing the worst in  Black people , I have viewed countless young sisters getting seriously injured for antagonizing young men, challenging authority, and mouthing off at their peers. I Cannot emphasize the importance of being respectful enough!

  • Education - A young woman showcasing Ignorance and stupidity is far from attractive. Although, most would contend the current state of the education does not properly educate our children. I believe, education gives opportunities for networking, and higher wages earnings. In addition,  parents should teach young black women the importances of having knowledge of self.

  • Being ladylike - Due to, Americans growing a love for reality television, Black women continue to be showcased in a negative light. The belief that all Black women are ghetto, loud, ratchet, and unruly is further perpetuated through the use of television , movies and social media. It is extremely important that we teach our daughters to avoid “Ratchet Behavior” such as, gossiping, cursing, wearing revealing clothing, and being Overly aggressive. Parents should monitor the shows their daughters are watching, and pay close attention to their  friends.
